Powergen National Trophy Round 6
|
Former England winger Tom
Beim is set to return to action for Pertemps Bees in their Powergen National
Trophy sixth round tie against Otley at Sharmans Cross Road on Saturday November
26 (2pm).
Beim, a summer recruit from Viadana, has not played since he suffered a
recurrence of a groin injury in the National One defeat at Bedford three weeks
ago.
The injury forced Beim to withdraw from the Barbarians' side for last week's
Remembrance Day fixture against the Combined Services at Newbury but he is
optimistic of being passed fit to play against Otley, who were beaten 22-19 by
Pertemps Bees in a National One game at Cross Green last Saturday.
Former Sale and Gloucester player Beim will have a precuationary fitness test
this week and is likely to face Otley a full-back to allow Dave Knight to move
up to centre.
Prop Reuben Leilau is also hopeful of being passed fit after he was forced to
sit out the league game at Otley by a neck injury.
Prop Emyr Lewis, who was recalled from a loan spell to cover for Andrew Le
Chevalier and Adrian Olver at Otley, is eligible for the Trophy game.
Pertemps Bees initially thought that Lewis was cup-tied but it has now been
established that he has not played for Nuneaton in the competition already this
season.
Centre Mike Davies might also rejoin the squad after two weeks out with a rib
injury sustained in the 61-10 victory at Cleckheaton in the last round of the
Trophy.
My prediction: 13-9 to Otley
