Pertemps Bees have named an injury-ravaged side for the National league One game against Rotherham Earth Titans at Clifton Lane on Saturday April 1 (3pm).
Wingers Tom Beim and Aaron Takarangi will play out of position at full-back and centre respectively to cover a shortage of fit backs. Beim, a former England international, will play at Rotherham even though he suffered a groin injury in last Saturday's defeat by Otley.
Takarangi, who has signed to play for Coventry next season, will partner Mike Davies who suffered cuts against Otley with veteran Nick Baxter returning to the starting line-up on the left wing. Baxter still needs one try to become the first player to reach the landmark of 150 career league tries.
In the pack, Alex Davidson returns to partner Rob Walton who will be returning to Rotherham where he spent the first four months of the season.
Ed Orgee moves from the second row to the blindside flank with Tu Tamarua switching to openside to replace Cae Trayhern who suffered a neck injury against Otley.
There are four front row forwards among the replacements - three props and a hooker - and one gap yet to be filled. Ben Williams, whose only previous outing was as a replacement against Bedford in October, has been named as a backs' replacement along with Ben Harvey.
Hooker Matt Miles has been named on the bench just three weeks after he suffered an ankle injury against Bedford and prop Jason Hobson has also returned earlier than expected having passed a cognizance test. He was concussed against Bedford.
The injury list includes full-back Dave Knight, centre Simon Martin and back-row forward Duncan White. Loan signings Will Matthews and Jay Williams have been ruled out for the season by knee injuries and England Under-21 fly-half Ryan Lamb has been recalled from his loan spell to play in Gloucester's European Challenge Cup quarter-final against Brive.
To add to the selection headaches, hooker Ben Gerry, who can also provide back-row cover, is unavailable because of work commitments in China.

Steve McCormack’s Preview:

Fifth placed Earth Titans entertain bottom of the table Pertemps Bees looking to try and close the two point gap between them and fourth placed Plymouth Albion.

The Titans were narrowly defeated in a Yorkshire derby last Sunday at Doncaster.

At Clifton Lane this season the Titans have been in good form with eight wins out of ten and only Harlequins and Bedford Blues leaving with victories.

The Bees were beaten at home by Otley last Saturday and slipped to the bottom of the table with Sedgley Park winning at home to Exeter Chiefs as they went down to their third straight defeat.

On the road the Bees have been poor with just one win and a draw from their 11 matches.

The Titans are looking to do the double over the Pertemps Bees having won narrowly at Sharmans Cross Road earlier in the season 27-26.

Steve’s Prediction: Rotherham by 12

My prediction: Rotherham by 25
