The Pertemps Bees winger had been stuck on 149 career league tries since he crossed against Doncaster at Castle Park on December 10, but he finally found his way back to the tryline midway through the second half of this entertaining contest
Baxter became the first player in Premiership and National league history to the 150 landmark having become the first man to the 100 milestone against Bracknell in 2002
Baxter's tries have come in just ten years with his first 88 being scored in 103 games for Worcester. Only Rugby Lions winger Eddie Saunders and Otley scrum-half Dave Scully have since scored 100 league tries
Baxter was given a standing ovation but this appearance might also prove to be his farewell to senior rugby
"I've been struggling with a knee problem since December and I might have to retire," Baxter said.
"I'd like to play on but I'm getting a lot of discomfort and I'll have to see what the specialist thinks.
"The last four months have been a real struggle, but I was determined not to go out on 149 tries.
"When I got the ball there was no way that anyone was going to stop me. I'm delighted with the achievement and it's something that I am very proud of."
The Bees claimed two bonus points from the game for scoring two tries and having a losing margin of fewer than seven points. But those are likely to be wiped out by First Division Rugby because they again included three unregistered players in their squad.
One of those, Scotland Under-19 wing Alex Grove, produced a mature display and he landed three conversions and a penalty.
The penalty gave the Bees an early lead but Doncaster took advantage of teh sin-binning of hooker Matt Miles to go ahead with a try from former Leicester number eight Dan Montagu.
He was followed to the line by winger Oliver Cook with fly-half Rob Liley landing two conversions.
But the Bees responded with a solo effort from full-back Dave Knight five minutes before the break which Grove, the grandson of former West Bromwich Albion football manager Ron Wylie, improved.
Cook crossed again to give Doncaster a 21-10 advantage at the break but the Bees showed excellent spirit in a fast and furious second half after Liley had landed an early penalty.
Baxter's historic try brought the house down and the deficit was reduced to just two points when skipper Ed Orgee was driven over from a driving maul and Grove converted.
Grove then set up Tim Walsh for the Bees' fourth try which Grove converted but the victory hopes were dashed late on when Donovan van Vuuren burst through under the posts and Liley added the winning conversion.
