Moore's Comments

James Moore, National One's leading points-scorer in 2005/06, says the chance to return to full-time rugby and the prospect of playing in the Prem again were just two of the motivating factors behind his move from Coventry to the Cornish Pirates.

"Jim McKay and (owner) Dicky Evans are also very ambitious and want to go to the Prem'ership and hopefully I can help get them there.
"I think they signed me primarily as a goal kicker, but they also liked the fact that I can play in a few positions across the back line.
"From my viewpoint the ambition of the club was a key reason as well. I'm sure Coventry has got ambitions as well but it seems that next season they are losing a lot of key players and taking, what seems like, a backward step.

Quotes

BBC Coventry & Warwickshire
James Moore was the hero for Coventry who survived a late scare to beat local rivals Pertemps Bees 30-29 at the Butts Park Arena.

James Moore though had a major hand in the Coventry revival with three penalties in 17 minutes that helped ease his side back in front. Moore then crashed over for Coventry's third and decisive try on 70 minutes with his subsequent conversion taking Coventry 8 points clear (and Moore to 206 points for the season).

Birmingham Post - My XV of the finest around
The other bright spark in the Coventry backs, Moore's value is doubled by his 80 per cent accuracy as a kicker. He has enough pace to play on the wing but is probably good enough a footballer to move inside. The division's leading points-scorer has, sadly, agreed a move to Cornish Pirates.

Fylde Rugby Club 2004
The undoubted star of the playing squad was versatile young half-back James Moore. He is an outstanding prospect and is a member of the Sale Sharks Jets and Academy set-up. He has also made his name with the English Counties squad and has fitted in to playing with National One and Two players with little difficulty. He is a fluent try scorer, has pace to spare and is also a reliable goal kicker. He has scored almost 200 points this season at a rate similar to Fylde's Mike Scott. However, he played his last game for Vale a couple of weeks ago as he's been called up into the Sharks main squad. He will be sorely missed.
