Paul Devlin becomes a Pirate!
By Dick Straughan June 16 2007
The Cornish Pirates have this week announced their fourteenth pre-season signing with the capture of former Sale Shark back, Paul Devlin, from French club Albi. Pirates Head Coach, Jim McKay, clearly means business as we head to the start of the new season with a much changed and formidable array of talent behind the scrum.

Twenty-six year-old Paul Devlin, who joins from Top 14 French Championship side Albi (Sporting Club Albigeois) is someone who has consistently played at a high level & is one of ten new outsides heading to Cornwall. Born in St. Helen's, Paul was educated at Saints Peter & Paul School, Widnes.

He joined Sale in 1999, aged 17, and from there captained England U18s (Clubs), playing also Premiership and European Shield matches during his time with the Sharks.

From July 2002 - October, 2004, Paul played rugby league for Widnes Vikings in the 'Super League', and for Ireland RL, besides also going on loan back to Sale in 2003 to cover for Jason Robinson in Rugby World Cup year.

Two seasons with Munster, playing in the Celtic League and Heineken Cup, followed, then his year playing with Albi.
