The Site is two years old this month and has shown steady growth over that period. This month has seen the greatest number of hits so far with over 300,000 a long way from the first month's figure of under 10,000.
Last year showed a total hits figure of 605,339 which has risen to over 2,112,1920 for this year (Yes, that's over 2 million hits). The site has made the Top Ten rugby sites list on a few occassions but we've got a long way to go to catch the Saints who regularly have 3 or 4 times this number of hits!
I can't believe what's happened with the site and had no idea what I was taking on when I started. In fact it all started with a remark on the National League message board. There were a couple of threads specifically about the Chiefs and one of the regulars on that site suggested we take our parochial business elsewhere! So I started with a blog, found this was not user friendly and very limited. This led to a suggestion I look at sportnetwork and with a little help from a Cov fan (thanks James) who designed the first Logo the site was started in October 2006.
Once I'd learnt about the mysteries of HTML I was able to try my hand at producing the next Logo.
When the Saints joined us in Div1 this was much too close to their Logo so I decided to make a further change. At the same time I wanted to get away from the 'unofficial' tag because there is no way fans using this site are unofficial supporters. So I moved the site to it's current title and I'm glad to see The Tribe gaining recognition amongst the Sandy Park faithfull.
The Tribe are now proud to sponsor Lewis Stevenson and have recently welcomed The Friends of Exeter Rugby Club to the site with their own message board.
We've now got a small, regular band of writers and in the last 2 years we've only 'lost' the site twice due to lack of content. The site is gradually attracting a larger following amongst Chiefs fans. However we still need more people to write stories, match previews and reviews. It's not that difficult and doesn't have to be a masterpiece of journalism (whatever that might look like). I'll be putting another article together on how to lay out the article but in the mean time send your copy to me and I'll do the rest.
