Coventry 26 Esher 17. A third win on the trot over a resilient Esher side, has pushed Cov into 7th place in the league, a position seemingly out of reach after their poor start to the season. The start of the match gave a feeling of deja vu as a continuation of the Launceston game, with Cov facing a gale force wind, and having to make sure they kept ball in hand.

Following a great break by Dorrian, carried on by Clayton and finished off for the 2nd game in succession by the ever improving Chris Whitehead, the Cov lead was soon overtaken by a Esher try making the score Cov 5  Esher 7.  A further Whitehead try followed after good close range work by the pack to give a HT score of Cov 10  Esher 7.

Some wrong options in the first half had denied Cov further tries and had kept Esher in the game.  An early penalty by McLean increased Cov's lead, closely followed by an exchange of penalties to each side making score Cov 16  Esher 10, but then Esher shocked the home side with an easy converted try by Dave Slemen following poor fringe defence, making it Cov 16  Esher 17.  Cov then upped their game and following persistent infringing Esher had a player sin binned.  A 5m scrum allowed Cov to turnover a Esher scrum resulting in a converted try for Laurie McGlone to make the score Cov 23  Esher 17.  A further McLean penalty made the final score Cov 26  Esher 17, although Cov, as in the Launceston game had to survive 20 mins of constant Esher pressure they defended well.
 

The windy conditions made the game somewhat of a lottery, but Cov stuck to their task, in a game that would probably have lost earlier in the season, and deserved their victory. MOM was Chris Whitehead the formal announcement of which was made fully 20minutes before end of game.
