FULL-BACK Rob Cook collected two tries as Nuneaton pulled away in the second half to record a clear victory over National Division Three North's bottom markers. Nuns dominated from the start and were 10-0 up at the break, but Halifax put up a brave defensive display until the second period when gaps began to appear.

Fly-half Rickie Aley opened with an early penalty for Nuns before converting when prop Tim Pickard peeled off a maul to score the only try of the half on 16 minutes.

Nuns came back out in determined mood and prop Brok Davies went over for a try less than three minutes after the restart.

Halifax replied through an Iain Gordon penalty, but it was followed by a well-taken try from Nuns skipper Ian Critchley before Cook struck for the first time with a superb solo effort, breaking from his own half and gathering his own kick over the defensive line to cross unchallenged.

Aley converted both scores before kicking a penalty early in the final quarter, and although Craig Emmerson pulled back a consolation score for Halifax, Gordon converting, Nuns had the final say when Cook went over for his second.
