"It is important that we im-prove our away performances but Clifton Lane is a tough place to go. They have a brass band playing and it is never a very nice welcome.
"But that is part of the growing up process for some of our players - we have a lot of youth in our side and they have not been to some of these grounds and don't know what to expect."
Cov have picked up maximum points from their last two matches - at home to Manchester and Newbury - and win in Yorkshire would see them continue their climb up the National One table.
"We look good at home where I would back us against anyone in the league," Maynard added. "But we have only won once away and that was a hard-fought victory at Sedgley Park.
"Our away performances have not been good albeit against some good sides. Against Leeds we stood off them and allowed them far too much space.
"But we have been working hard. Our backs are now stringing some passes together and we now have a solid platform to work from.
"We are winning 90 per cent of our own lineouts and have been working hard on our scrummaging."
Maynard has kept faith in the side that saw off struggling Newbury 31-7 last week, the only change being the return of Ronnie McLean to the bench.
That will mean a place in the back row for James Miller after his first run-out for the Barbarians against the Combined Services in their annual Remembrance Match - a game which the Baa Baas won 33-14.
Maynard added: "It was a great honour for James to play for the Barbarians. But is also good for the club, particularly with such a history of international play-ers at Coventry.
