Nuneaton 29 Hull Ionians 6

THREE tries in the first 24 minutes set up another merited win for Nuneaton to keep them in the National Division Three North title mix. Full-back Rob Cook opened the scoring after just two minutes, slicing through Hull's defensive line after Rickie Aley collected a poor clearance kick, and centre Tim Douglas added a second try two minutes later after a slick handling move - Aley kicking both
conversions.

Aley was unusually off target with two penalty attempts as Nuns continued to press, but the fly-half converted again when winger Aaron Takarangi raced over for the third try with Hull back row Mark Wigham in the sin bin.

Aley and James Ferguson traded penalties to send Nuns into the break with a comfortable 24-3 cushion.

The home side seemed content to sit on their lead in the second half, tackling strongly to limit the visitors to a James Green drop goal after 56 minutes before Wigham's second yellow card of the afternoon was followed by a try for back row Gary Holmes midway through the final quarter to give Nuns maximum points.
