Mitchell fears being sucked into relegation fight
By Brian Dick, Birmingham Mail
November 21 2008
STOURBRIDGE director of rugby Neil Mitchell fears his young side could be dragged into a relegation battle if the changes made to the structure of the First Division ripple down to National Two. Following last Friday’s landmark decision to cut the First Division to 12 teams from next season, there are rumours four instead of three teams could also be relegated from level three.

That could imperil mid-table Stourbridge who have this weekend off before a testing run of games over Christmas and the New Year.

“We have got Tynedale away, Redruth who haven’t been beaten yet, Bees who are putting 50 points on everyone and Mounts Bay who have been rejuvenated by some new players,’’ said Mitchell.

“There is no question those are tough fixtures for a developing side that is quite young and if we get sucked into a fight at the bottom it will be a lot of pressure on young shoulders.”
