Cox's ten-year stint at Moseley comes to an end
By Brian Dick, Birmingham Post
May 7 2009
Another link with Moseley’s promotion winning side has been broken following the announcement Paul Cox will not be offered a contract by the Billesley Common outfit. The decision brings to an end a ten-year association between the club and a player commended for his outstanding loyalty to the Red and Black cause. Cox arrived at Moseley when they were still at The Reddings when he was just
18-years-old and has seen all manner of changes on the field and off it.

But despite offers to go elsewhere he stuck by Moseley through thin and thinner and developed into an outstanding inside centre and the focal point of the side that won the National Two title in 2006.

However, after 103 appearances he has found first team rugby increasingly difficult to come by and has spent a couple of spells on loan at Stourbridge in recent seasons. He played five more times this term although it became clear for both parties a parting of the ways was imminent.

“It is disappointing because I have played all my adult rugby at the club,” Cox said. “It is hard to think I won’t wear that Moseley shirt again but it’s about time I moved on and let younger lads take the club forward.”

Cox is in talks about staying on in an off-field capacity and has not given up the hope of playing more semi-professional rugby.
