But despite offers to go elsewhere he stuck by Moseley through thin and thinner and developed into an outstanding inside centre and the focal point of the side that won the National Two title in 2006.
However, after 103 appearances he has found first team rugby increasingly difficult to come by and has spent a couple of spells on loan at Stourbridge in recent seasons. He played five more times this term although it became clear for both parties a parting of the ways was imminent.
“It is disappointing because I have played all my adult rugby at the club,” Cox said. “It is hard to think I won’t wear that Moseley shirt again but it’s about time I moved on and let younger lads take the club forward.”
Cox is in talks about staying on in an off-field capacity and has not given up the hope of playing more semi-professional rugby.
