The 25-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding season for Moseley and his retention, following that of front row union Terry Sigley, Adam Caves and Nathan Williams, sees the club keep together the heart of the pack that has developed into one of the best in the division over the past six months.
In fact, after a slow start Muldowney’s combination of ball carrying, off-loading and a high work-rate has been so good it has aroused the attention of some of National One’s more affluent clubs.
But Moseley are determined to keep one of their finds of the season following his transfer from Stourton Park last summer. When Muldowney arrived at the club it took him six weeks to break into the first team. But after a terrible team effort at Rotherham in October Ian Smith rang the changes and Muldowney used that platform to establish himself as first choice lock.
He went on to make 25 appearances and score six tries including a hat-trick against Sedgley Tigers.
Moseley have, however, lost out on the services of Richie Bignell. The openside has agreed to move to rivals Coventry, thereby ending his three-year connection with the Red and Black cause.
Bignell has been tempted by the offer of a full-time contract from Phil Maynard’s outfit after 64 appearances for the club.
