Welsh centre James Lewis signs for Coventry

COVENTRY have captured Welsh international James Lewis from Newport Gwent Dragons. The 21-year-old centre, who moved to the regional squad from Welsh Premier club Ebbw Vale, is coming to the Butts Park Arena on a two-year deal. Capped by Wales through the age groups up to Under-20s, Lewis has been a regular member of the Wales Sevens squad since 2006 but is giving that up to concentrate on his
15-a-side game.

“James is a strong-running outside centre with pace,” said Cov’s rugby director Phil Maynard. “I’m very pleased that he is coming to us.

“He has international experience from his sevens career, but he now wants to develop his full potential as a player and it’s great that he sees Coventry and the Championship as the place to do that.

“It’s another important piece in the jigsaw for us.”
