Moseley playing their part in Gloucester's production line

Eight of Moseley’s dual registered cordon have signed senior deals with parent club Gloucester. Half backs Jordi Pasqualin and Tristan Roberts, outside backs Charlie Sharples and Henry Trinder and back five forward Dan Williams have all been promoted to the Cherry and Whites’ first team squad. They are joined by prop Yann Thomas, who made a handful of appearance for Ian Smith’s men last
term and Freddie Burns and Dave Lewis.

In recent weeks, Lewis, Sharples, Trinder and Williams have featured for England Under-20s as they made the final of the Junior World Championship in Japan.

Trinder and Sharples in particular achieved that after enjoying break-through seasons for the Premiership outfit as well as playing a key role in Moseley’s successful league and cup campaign.

Gloucester Academy manager Mark Cornwell believes the experience gained in playing at National One level has been an important part in helping his youngsters make the step up.

“The production line seems to be working and I think a lot of that is down to dual registration,” the former Birmingham & Solihull captain said.

“Our players have been gaining experience playing for Cinderford and Moseley and then going on to first-team level.

“I’m delighted that so many of the lads are moving upwards through the ranks. It seems to be working well and we all hope it continues.”

Next season, the first of the newly-created Championship, Mose head coach Ian Smith will also have the services of Gloucester’s new prop Rupert Harden, centre Jonny May and converted scrum half Charlie Simpson-Daniel.

They will also be able to field England Under-20s prop Shaun Knight, who spent last season on loan at National Two side Cinderford and hooker Adrian Duncan, who also spent time at the Foresters.

n  Worcester Warriors will play their first home fixture of the new Guinness Premiership season on a Friday night against National One champions Leeds.

Mike Ruddock’s men welcome the newly-promoted outfit to Sixways on September 11 (kick-off 8pm) and will also face Northampton Saints on Boxing Day (kick-off 3pm).

The majority of home league games will once again kick off at the traditional time of 3pm on Saturday with just two other Friday night games pencilled in.

The Rugby Football Union won a significant victory in their campaign to host the 2015 World Cup after tournament organisers officially endorsed their bid.

The board of Rugby World Cup Limited (RWCL) recommended the 2015 event be staged in England and suggested Japan become the first emerging nation to host the tournament four years later.
