But Rugby gradually got on top, and their efforts saw two Hull players sin-binned, leading to Tom Harris going over – converted by Jack Green to give Lions a 7-5 half-time advantage.
But Hull regained control of the game after the break, slowing down the Rugby ball, and they re-took the lead via Joe Wright’s penalty, which proved to be the decisive moment.
“It wasn’t great at all,” stated Halsey. “They had a simple game-plan which they carried out well, while we never stuck to our game-plan at all.”
“We never applied any of the systems we had worked on in training, and we were very one-dimensional. The players must start carrying out the plans we have set them. We have a development team which are doing some good things, and we can always turn to those lads.”
