27-year-old Guyanan international has been a revelation, scoring six tries in as many games.
Coventry winger Dom Lespierre is fast becoming a fans’ favourite at the Butts Park Arena.
One of Cov’s last, and least heralded, summer signings, the 27-year-old Guyanan international has been a revelation, scoring six tries in as many National League One games.
Combining pace and clinical finishing with a robust defence, Lespierre was named man of the match by game sponsors Brose after scoring two tries in Saturday’s 48-27 win over Richmond.
And, set to play his rugby at Huddersfield before Cov’s pre-season intervention, he says that the move has proved just as beneficial for him and renewed his appetite for the game
“It’s been great to come down here. There’s a great atmosphere and everything is working really well for me,” said Lespierre, who played at Hull last season after returning from Australia.
“Things didn’t work out as well as I hoped last season. After being in Australia for three years I fell out of love with rugby, really, and was only going to Huddersfield to play until Christmas and then go back to Australia.
“But Cov came calling and it’s been a really good two months for me since I came here – I’ve really enjoyed my rugby again.
“I love the style of expansive rugby we are playing. We’ve been slipping off things a little in the second half of games, but once we can put it all together we are really going to push ourselves up the league and hopefully put some teams to the sword.
“If we keep playing the way we are and improving, as we are every week, come the end of April we will see where we are, and with the help of the great fans who keep coming down here and helping to push us over the line, we can be fighting for that promotion place.
“It’s always great to finish and score tries, but for me it’s not about personal accolades, and if we win and I don’t score it’s happy days.
“I just want the team to win, and if we can get that, and especially a bonus point win, that’s the main thing.”
Born in London, Lespierre started playing rugby as a 12-year-old at Whitgift School in Croydon, winning county age-group honours, but moved into rugby league when he went to university in Leeds.

Very impressed with Dom Lespierre so far this season. Regarding the MoM presentation, There is always a load of chatter between supporters during the announcers and players speech. Could it be possible that the club may get a louder microphone so more supporters who want to listen can do so?
