Plymouth Albion Ladies make their longest trip of the season and come away with the spoils. They were just not able to match the 50 points that Albion had scored the previous day against Cornish All Blacks but this win plants the ladies firmly on top of the league picking up 14 points out of 15 in the first three matches in the season.
The match was very much a game of two halves with Albion keeping a clean sheet in the first half but after Blackheath changing their game plan at the turn around Albion had a shock waiting for them. They held their own to win both halves the bonus point and a hat trick for Terri Commack.
With Georgina Rozario picking up the first points in the 13th minute of the match the scene was set and with Tracy Corby back on form with the boot Albion were 7 - 0 up.
In the 26th minute, Terri scored her first of three from a pick and go at a scrum from 5 metres out in the centre with Tracy making it 14 - 0.
Just before the half hour Nancy Stone added her 5 points which was also converted 21 - 0.
Sonia Clatworthy finished the half in the last minute of normal time by running in a try. This was to be the only try to be left unconverted by Tracy, so Albion went into the turn around 26 - 0 up.
Albion were given a wakeup call when Blackheath came back into play with a new game plan to play and managed to be the first to put points on the board in the half.
In the 14 the minute of the half Terri Cormack scored her second giving the ladies their second bonus point of the season. Claire Steer broke through the Blackheath defence and with the support from Nancy Stone before being passed to Terri to complete the move. The conversion bought the score to 33 - 5.
In the 23rd and 33rd minutes Blackheath scored 2 more unconverted tries to bring the scores closer 33 - 15 and in touch for gaining the losing bonus point.
It was not to be as with just two minutes later Terri completed her hat trick of tries after picking the ball up from the back of the scrum on the 22 she saw a gap between their 10 and 12, broke through, and scored under the posts. 40 - 15.
And with just two minutes to go in the match Claire Steer put her own points on the board when she picked up the clincher try with the conversion 47 - 15.
Blackheath were still trying and they scored a disputed try in the last play of the match.
Whilst there were areas for improvement and Albion were not in control of the whole match Tristan Forster was more than happy with the teams performance.
