Plymouth Albion Ladies try their best, putting on a great show of rugby at Brickfields on Sunday. Despite playing as well as they have all season it was not enough for the strong Richmond side. But Albion still sit above them and sit in the top position.
Richmond were set to put the first points on the board in the 9th minutes after Albion were penalised for being offside in front of the posts. Kicking from just inside the Albion half the distance was just too long and the ball went under the bar.

The Richmond number 8 almost made it to the line only a minute later but was pulled to the ground inches short by Georgina Rozario the ball was recycled and another attack on the line did not result in a try as the ball was dropped, Albion were given another let off.

With Albion on the attack a kick forward resulted in a double penalty due to a late tackle and Tracy Corby put the first points on the board when she kicked from 35 metres. 3 - 0.
Richmond did not leave it much longer to score, when from a breakdown in front of the posts they first took the ball out left and then quickly reversed to take the ball into the centre before their flanker went over just right of the posts. 3 - 7.
When Albion were penalised for playing the ball while off their feet the Richmond fly-half added another 3 points.
Tracy Corby had a difficult chance in the last minute of the first half from 40 metres out but the ball did not reach the posts and Richmond were forced to play the ball in their own 22.
The first half seemed to be controlled by Richmond but when the teams returned from the changing rooms Albion were playing with more determination and took control of the match for the next 25 minutes.

Albion made a number of attacks on the line but all were well defended by Richmond. When awarded a penalty 15 metres out Tracy Corby put the 3 points on the board to bring the score to 6 - 10.

On the 62nd minute of the match Richmond were forced into an error and passing the ball back from a 5 metre scrum stumbled and had to touch down for an Albion 5 metre scrum. This gave Albion a little bit more incentive and after 3 breakdowns Terri Cormack barged her way to the line to go over for Albion's only try. 13 -10.
Richmond make a number of tactical replacements and picked up the pace playing most of the remaining game in Albion's half.
Albion were penalised 3 times by penalties within kicking range on the 68th, 74th and 77th minute enabling Richmond to score the winning points. Albion did try to come back but were not allowed into the Richmond 22. 13 - 19.
