Despite going down at Richmond on Sunday Ladies Head Coach, Tristan Forster, praises the team saying that this was the best the team has played for the last two years.
The ladies were faced with a number of unavailable players on their trip to the capital but played well as a team. With Terri Cormack coming back from an ankle injury picked up at Saracens last October. Forster admitted that he would have liked to have ease Terri back into the team, but this was a luxury he did not have.
His selection was further hampered when his normal captain, Rachel Tucker failed a late fitness test and Suzie Kendall was given the role. Then 2 minutes into the match prop Vee Thompson was substituted due to a knee injury.
However it took only 8 minutes for Albion to get onto the score sheet after Terri Cormack took the ball blind side off the back of the ruck, before passing the ball to England scrum half Georgina Rozzario, who took the hosts full back on and touched down in the corner.
Richmond came back with a penalty kick after Albion were penalised for not rolling away. Then just before the end of the first half Richmond again put the pressure on the Albion's defence and went into the lead with a forwards try off the back of the scrum. Bringing the half time score to 8 - 5.
In the 72nd minute Albion's other starting prop, Gail Randall, was also replaced due to injury forcing the match to go to uncontested scrums.
With both sides putting up great defence the scores remained the same for 40 minutes despite various chances for both sides until the very last play of the match. With Albion camped in the Richmond 22 the hosts managed to collect the ball and run the length of the pitch to make the result certain.
The match also saw the debut for two new players that only joined the club last week, Charlie Lewis who comes from the Royal Navy and played 78 minutes and Rebecca Lewis who is studying at Marjons.
