Comments after Saturday's match
By Dave Wills May 19 2008
Read the comments made after the Devon's 10 - 7 win at Brickfields on Saturday. Supporters, Players, Coaches and even the ref! Now we just need to look forward to Twickenham.

Some of the comments made after the match that confirmed Devon's place at Twickenham on 1st June.

Danny Hawkes (fly half)
I would just like to thank the supporters for coming up, and hopefully they can turn up at Twickenham and we can have a really good game and see if we can win it again.

Stuart Pearl (Devon hooker)
just a hard fought game, it was never going to be easy, they were really up for it, physical side, always has been against Glos and always will be. We dug deep, put some pressure and finally came out with a victory, so pleasing, so hopefully we can take some momentum to the final at Twickenham.

Tony Boyle (coach)

It was always going to be a tough game, very very physical up front, they attacked well, looked after the ball around the fringes very well. I think the Devon squad as we are, with the young developing players with a few exceptions. With the likes of Danny Thomas and a few others. I think they fronted up well and looked after the ball. in the second half after an initial amount of pressure. Some forced replacements like Tim Mathias just brought a little experience to the side at a difficult time during the game to win 10 -7 not firing on all cylinders. We are not far off it and it was a good win at the home of some of the players. Its good to go back to Twickenham again.

John Roberts (coach)

I think the start gave them a shock really, because we were 7 0 down and I think it gave them a real big lift, and we had to come back from that. it was always going to be quite a tight game to concede such early points. We got back from a really good scrum, blew a couple of chances in the first half. line outs did not really function, which put us under pressure. in the second half we soaked up a bit of pressure and then scored the second critical try.

Andrew Vertigan (referee)
A good game played by two teams that were really up for it, yes a draw would have been a fair result, i thought the officials handled the game very well.
Andrew M Crain (right wing glos)
I thought the game was a lot tighter than it normally has been, we gave everything today really. I thought we could have beaten Devon to be honest, the closest we came, they were just a little bit more streetwise, pumped up at the vital times, got the maul going which is hard to defend. we seem to lose to them every time, but we have made some good mates down here, a good team atmosphere A good battle on the pitch, great atmosphere afterwards and wish Devon all the best in the final.

Richard - Devon supported
I am glad we won, it was an exciting game, we could be better with a passing game, were happy .

We done it again this week, bit like up at Barnstaple, if Glos had not made so many errors they could have snatched the game, but a win is a win.

I thought it was an excellent game, brilliant, good result.

Seeing as mums are being given message board space, I'll add my two penn'th. I thought Devon did really well to grind it out, it wasn't pretty but a win's a win. Sometimes success has to be made with small steps. Jenkins' mum

Re: Coments after Saturday's match
Ok my turn.......lol

Considering the young side Devon put out it was a good win, I am sure nerves must have come into play a little for the less experienced.
The defence was awesome, and Glos didn't make it an easy ride. Great kick by Dan and Tom scampered in!
Matt didn't have as good a game as he would have liked but a win's a win and back to Twickenham he goes for the 4th time,

I know he is looking forward to it. Having covered all spots, travelling replacement (not used), replacement (getting a losers medal), then starting last year and a winners medal.

Hello Steph,welcome aboard.

If Glos had reduced their unforced error count throughout the 2nd half, the result and scoreline would undoubtably been so much different. As supporters have said, a win is a win .

Well done to the match officials for their high standard.(Sm152)

Congrats to all the lads, good luck in the final, if the Cornish can beat the Yorkies (1991) so can we.
