North Terrace alllbion working party!
By Frank Stormont
July 12 2008
After a suggestion on the messageboard this site steps into action as it starts the process of cleaning up the North Terrace and make Albion's own. Could you help on Saturday to move the process on?

Your Club Needs You!

Two members of this supporters' website spent most of Saturday starting the cleaning process of the North Terrace seats.

The plan is to remove the old white paint that a year or so ago was spelling out QUINS, clean the grim built up over the years and then to repaint certain of the seat bottoms so that they spell out either "Albion" or "PARFC". Both options are viable and we need an answer from the board before we finally complete the process.

After firstly attempting to remove the seats so that the paint could be removed off the seats was thwarted due to the bolts being firmly attached by rust or glue. Plan B was to pressure wash the paint off but the paint seems to too well adhered so the team have moved onto plan C.

Plan C is to apply paint stripper to the bottom of the seats and once the "stuff" has done it's work to remove the paint with water.

With around 340 seats to be treated it will not be a quick job so this is where you come in.

We would like a number of helpers next Saturday, 19th July, from 9am to help painting and washing.
The seats will then need to be cleaned of the green grime, seats oiled, decking cleaned and treated and finally the bottom of some seats painted!

We know that it will not be possible to do this all in one weekend but each stage can be done as a separate task making improvements to the Brickfields Stadium as we go.

Would anyone who is going to be at brickfields tomorrow morning for the "cheap seats" project, who has an extension lead of 20 metres or more please bring it along to assist in the operation, thank you.

You shouldn't have taken it in the first place Mike. (Sm22)

A big thank you to all who made it to the "CHEAP SEATS" project (b.b.b.) to help do a bit more to the stand, we spoke about another session next saturday but as you probably all know by now the club are hosting a league game, k.o. 3.00p.m. so Frank will be negotiating a program for next weeek, maybe finish a bit earlier or start at 8.00 etc.when he has an answer it will be posted on this thread, we have only four more weekends inluding next week before the first friendly at home on a saturday, and it would be nice to have it finished if possible, so next week will make a lot of difference to our plans, fingers crossed.

WE WILL NOT CLASH WITH THE TIGHT ONES, I MEAN TITANS.

Frank has been told that the k.o. for the rugby league game has been put back to 7.00 p.m. or 19.00 hrs for all the service types amongst us, so there will be no clash with our efforts on Saturday as we will be well away by then.

Still awaiting confirmation of access but should hear soon, will post on here a.s.a.p.

Quite right scoreboardender about the wedding, but that won't effect us as long as we all park in the north end car park where the gate will be open for us at 9.00 a.m. this will leave the club house end parking free for the wedding guests etc.

So see you all there at 9.00'sh then.

Hi all, once again a big thank you to the club for providing our lunches today, and a special thanks to the catering staff who I know were very busy. Catering for more than a couple events at the same time.

The project of removing the white paint from the seats has been fulfilled.

We will next week endeavour to complete our aims by putting the PARFC logo onto the seats.

Thank you for the teams contribution today!!!!

Yes Flanker a big thank you to the kitchen staff for lunch and a very welcome cold drink (juice not beer)

The seating is looking much better now.

All we need now is the quick approval from the club to go ahead with the paint for the new seating logo to paint it on next Saturday, time is of the essence I'm afraid.

The club have said that they want P.A.R.F.C. painted on Y.A.
so we now wait for approval for the finances to be made available for the paint, the sooner we get it, the sooner we can paint the logo.

Have learnt today that the club are hosting a "Devonport fun day" at brickfields next Saturday, so all the hard working folk on the North stand project will be have more time with their families before starting again the following Saturday if we get the go ahead for the next phase.

Will post as soon as I know what is happening, thanks to all.

The approval for the monies for the North stand refurbishment has been given verbally and will be approved at the next board meeting early next week for an official confirmation.

Our extra ciricular activities on the North stand are very much appreciated by the club.

So a full scale work day is planned for Saturday week the 10th. August with some mid week work doing the pressure washing to be arranged in the meantime.

Will message and post on here about the pressure washing soon to arrange dates etc.

Thanks.

Re: North Terrace alllbion working party!
Am planning to do some pressure washing tomorrow using the two hoses available and the two pressure washers.

Next week will have a couple more sessions to continue the preparation for the following Saturdays painting session of the logo P.A.R.F.C.

If anyone wants to come up they are welcome, but not a lot to do at the moment untill we paint, only three or four needed for the time being.

you missed all the fun
I got very wet feet, felt like a duck at times (or is it a swan?)
- but thanks go to the club that supplied sausage, egg & chips, very nice
we've got the 2 columns on the left clean seats and deck
worked out it will take about 5 days to complete the lot
but we're 'doing it again' tomorrow if anyone else wants to get their feet wet then contact noibla

Re: North Terrace alllbion working party!
a great day, although could only attend for 'half the fun'
had a few people from the club come up and say hello
the first 3 columns on the left are now done, and rumour has it the club has approved the PARFC 'logo'
I kept my feet dry today, but my cricket hat got a soaking (long story that needs cider)
I can't make it again until at least saturday PM, but the 'party' is meeting again tomorrow
if anyone else wants to get their feet, or hat wet, then contact noibla

Thanks for your assistance today C.D. you looked a picture in your hat.

If there is anyone out there who has got a day to spare tomorrow or any other day this week to make up a full squad for a bit of pressure washing then your help will be greatly appreciated, lunch is provided, see you at 9.00 at the clubhouse.

Bring your waterproofs, you won't get wet then if it rains.

Re: North Terrace alllbion working party!
Hi folks, we will not be doing any painting this Saturday, as there is still some pressure washing to be done on the last two blocks needed for the logo.

We have arranged for all four pressure washers to be in action this Saturday, the 9th. and have room for two more volunteers to help free up the sticking seats for us, so if you fancy it let me know please and we will be meeting up at 10.00 a.m. please park in the north car park as there is a wedding at brickfields during the day, and they will be using the clubhouse end car parks, thank you.

The painting should follow after a couple more weekdays pressure washing after that all being well, so hopefully on the Saturday the 16th. weather permitting or if not early the following week in time for the Neath game, fingers crossed.

Hi there, the forecast for the 9th is pretty horrendous, maybe it will pass us by, will turn up to see what the chances are any way.

Hi folks,

Due to the weather conditions today and the probabality of it worsening there won't be a work party on the North terrace today, we don't want to take any chances in the circumstances with the power cables, and will start again during the coming week.

Thank you for all the offers of help for today, much appreaciated and we look forward your assistance at a later date perhaps, cheers.

Sorry for any disruption.

what progress, is looking good out there
the seats are almost all clean now, 'we' marked out roughly the letters, and part of the 'p' has been painted to see what the paint is like and how it looks.

'we' found the paint dried quickly but will require 2 coats

any volunteers to help with washing/painting
please contact noibla
and for the druids amongst us - please shake whatever to get good weather for the next week

I was at the club last night and I saw the part of the P on the seats and must admit the north stand will look very impressive when the PARFC is complete.
Wish I couls assist with the painting but am struggling with a back injury at the moment.

I'm afraid the rain looks to have control again this week B.B.B. the pressure washing is finished now except for touch ups on the seats that need to be painted and of course we cant paint in the showers, we didn't need the rain but my anti rain dance didn't work, it's given wet for the next three days.

thanks for checking it out, keep in touch.

Re: North Terrace alllbion working party!
Thanks for all the complimentary remarks about the North terrace from one and all, and a great big THANK YOU to all who helped in the effort, it was a wonderfull team effort from those who were able to pitch in.

We finally managed to achieve our main objective, that of having the logo painted on the seats for the Neath game.

The remainder of the work needed to finish the job won't be seen from the ground, the decking needs a coat or two of decking oil etc to protect it from the winter weather ahead and a couple of other things need doing but we are not far away from completion.

On Sunday, from the clubhouse terrace, I had another long hard look at the North Stand and quietly mused to myself how intimidating it might be to visiting fans to have those letters silently barking at them along the entire length of the park.

Louise had another attempt this afternoon at giving the unofficial web site some exposure and publicity, this time for the work done on the North terrace, but she just couldn't quite bring herself to commit to the cause, tagging us onto the the end of a list of "supporters and workers" we are over here Louise, if you want a list of who did what I'll give it to you and they are all registered members of the unofficial web site.

But thanks for the mention anyway it goes a little way towards building bridges I feel.

Shock news from brickfields as well, it's been dry for about tweleve hours and with a promise of it's continuance and a drying wind, if anyone would care for a day's painting the decking tomorrow (Monday) from 9.30 all will be welcome, it will be nice to break the back of the decking after having to wait so long for the weather to clear, then it's job done.

Might be able to fit in other days as well if the weather holds this week.

Thanks.

It's about time I bought you a pint C.D. with my ill gotten gains of £2 found on or below the terrace. (there's treasure in them thar teraces)

Thanks to all the brilliant help over the last few months in sprucing up the stand, all that needs to be done now is just a second coat of white paint on the logo, which we are leaving untill next close season starts, so now enjoy the rugby.

And I'd like to add once more a very much appreaciated thank you to the club and in particular the chef and his colleagues for their lovely meals that have been put on for all who have helped out on the project.

The favourable comments from the chairman down have been much appreciated. I also would like to say a special thanks to the chef and his colleagues for the lunches they provided. Whilst the volunteers worked hard the club backed our efforts by readily agreeing to purchase the necessary materials. One bonus was that we had early sightings of the new signings as they arrived over the last few weeks.
