Plymouth Albion Ladies will be kicking off their second match of the season in Championship South as they host Old Albanian Saints at Brickfields today (Sunday). With a kick off at 2:30 pm Albion will have to step up a gear to come away with the points.
The hosts have a number of returning players and a couple of new signings to add to the team that almost made it against Richmond two weeks ago.
Club Co-Captain, Sonia Clatworthy, says they are expecting a had physical match but will make the visitors work hard for any points. Saints have proved to be a bit of a banana skin for Albion in the past, always managing to come out on top even if it has been by only a few points at times.
Both girls teams are also in action as they play their first matches in the newly formed Western Counties West League. They travel to Tavistock today when both under 15s and 18s will play against Tavistock and Taunton. Matches start from 1pm at Tavistock rugby club.
In the current climate the female side of the sport receives very limited financial support with most of the costs being met by the players themselves. For more information on the club for ladies or girls please contact Sonia Clatworthy on 07977 092 014.
Meanwhile Albion Girls under 18 girls Sian Hobday and Kim Barber have been named in the Devon side with selection still to be made for Devon's U15 other Albion girls are hoping for selection.
