EXETER CHIEFS

Albion v Chiefs

By a strange twist of the fixture list there is no comparison team that has played both Chiefs an Albion this season.  Having said this the overall results and performances of the two clubs would lead any sane person to predict an away win. Many would probably give the chiefs 20 plus points and them getting the try bonus point in the first half if not the first 20 minutes.

Looking at results across the league have shown that it is how you compete on the day that gets the results. Albion have shown that they can at times in a match compete with in form teams but at other times they perform badly. With Brickfields looking at a possible record crowd there will be a lot of vocal support. Which will be the loudest? will it be the home side or those that have made the relatively short distance down the A38.

Plenty of "Albi Albi Albi" should get behind the boys and lift their spirits. As has been said in the press by team members we need to play for the full 80 minutes. At the last home match we saw a large amount of "gamesmanship" with trainers and water boys on the pitch at almost every stoppage.  Lets hope that this tactic that we also saw last time Chiefs were at Brickfields does not effect our boys.

Exeter must have the largest/most experienced squad in the league as was seen last month when our young Warriors made the trip up the A38 on a Monday evening.

The Exeter squad has a number that made that move from Albion over the summer. Some of those that were regulars in our 1st team have not made the impact they would have liked to. Only Nic and Tommy have featured, Nic has played 80 minutes 4 times and Tommy, due to injury, has played a total of 86.

Last time at Brickfields we lost the match some say by the three drop goals. This season we have a couple of fly halves that not afraid to take a shot and goal from the hands. Kieran in fact is the only player in the league to score two drop goals in a match.

Chiefs have already named their side for Saturday and have included 3 of last seasons Albion players in the squad for the first time.

Sean Marsden, Nic Sestaret, Bryan Rennie, Matt Cornwell, Josh Drauniniu, Gareth Steenson, Clive Stuart-Smith, Dan Parkes, Neil Clark, John Andress, Lewis Stevenson, Dan Tuohy, Tom Johnson, Richie Pugh, Richie Baxter (capt)  Reps from:  Sam Blythe, Chris Budgen, Tom Hayes, Tom Skelding, Ed Lewsey, Danny Gray, Mark Fatialofa, Alan Miller

Albion's side is still yet to be announced so here is my team, I do not expect that the powers at the club will agree but this is my team.
