ESHER
By Frank Stormont & CD
April 3 2009
Albion make the 200 mile journey to Moseley Road, making this the last time they’ll play. Esher this season, when Esher visited the Fortress, it saw one of the players carried off the field and the unofficial website supporting straw boaters. The Straw Boaters will be in evidence as the supporters are travelling by coach to show Albion their support.

As we come to the end of the season we see all three of our teams struggling to remain where they are.

The Ladies are sitting in the relegation zone and need a good win against bottom of the table Henley and Hove to lose away from home to secure a place in Championship South next season.

In Canterbury Shield Division 1 Devonport Warriors sit 8th out of 9 but have a number of unplayed matches, which if awarded a walkover could see them move up the table. Canterbury divisions are by invitation so are likely to retain their position for next season.

Albion are not safe from relegation and their fate may be decided after the official end of the season. I win on Saturday will of course help their fate but nothing is yet certain. It is likely that Albion will play Moseley mid week on Wednesday 29th April to avoid contract problems and Devon games.

Esher’s home gate averages at 713, well below that of Albion, so the travelling support from the travel club may boost their gate a little.  Esher have only won 3 games this season (against Newbury, Manchester and Sedgley Park) and are currently 11th, a few below Albion.

Last week Esher played Sedgley ‘Tigers’, slaying the tiger by 76 points to 10

Players to look out for are:

Dougie Flockhart (Full back/Wing), who has only been with the club since last year, has scored an impressive 15 tries for his club this season.  Dougie also is a ‘Barbarians’ player

George Lowe (Centre) who has scored 11 tries

Tom Loizides (Wing) who has scored 6 tries

Robert Shaw who has scored 4 tries

Sabatian Jewell (fly-half) has 3 tries, 2 conversions, 1 drop goal and 6 penalties

David Slemen (fly-half) who previously played for harlequins, has scored 3 tries and 3 conversions

Sam Sticher (flanker), who joined the club in July last year, has previously played for Leeds and Wasps, has scored 3 tries this season.

Lee starling (No.8), Sebastian Stegmann (wing) who have each scored 3 tries.

Neil Hallett (fly-half/full back) who has been with the club four years, has this season scored 2 tries, 48 conversions and 26 penalties to his name, so if he gets a chance to kick the ball over the posts he will take it

CD’s – Albion win and possibly a bonus point

Re: Spy in the Camp - Esher
The R.T's predict the result as a 9 point win for Esher and it's not the first time that they have been awry on that score either, so, lets be having you lads.

Re: Spy in the Camp - Esher
They also predict the following scores;

Manchester to beat Otley by 5 points
Moseley to lose to Leeds by 24 points
Coventry to lose to Exeter by 6 points
Sedgley to lost to Pirates by 6 points
Rotherham to beat Newbury by 20 points

They also predict that Albion will pick up just two more points this season to join the clubs already relegated: As I said the R.T's isn't too clever on it's predictions this time around so lets hope that continues, it won't be an easy ride folks.

Semper Sersum.
