Spy in the Camp - Pirates
By Frank Stormont & CD
April 10 2009
Well it’s that time of the season again, our annual trip to Camborne. The Pirates are our friendly rivals from ‘over the Tamar’, but it will be Albion and their supporters who will be packing their flags and passports and crossing the Tamar to meet the Pirates on their ground, will it be ‘last one out of Plymouth switch the lights off’ and watch our Camborne here come Albion supporters

Well it’s that time of the season again, our annual trip to Camborne. The Pirates are our friendly rivals from ‘over the Tamar’, but it will be Albion and their supporters who will be packing their flags and passports and crossing the Tamar to meet the Pirates on their ground, will it be ‘last one out of Plymouth switch the lights off’ and watch our Camborne here come Albion supporters.

The Pirates are one of the most consistent teams over the recent seasons and are currently sitting 6th in the league with 77 point, 3 above Albion who are sitting in 9th with 65 points. The Pirates average gate is 2968, with a maximum of 4913 this season, hopefully the travelling support from Albion will fill the Pirates ground to the gunnels.

The travel club are not running a coach as it was cheaper to travel by train – it is a bank holiday Sunday so please check trains before travelling – or you may have to stay with a friendly Pirate overnight.

Unfortunately there has been no team list posted on the Pirates site, but players to look out for:-

Brian Tuohy, (wing/centre) who played in the Churchill cup for Ireland A team, has 11 tries
Markika Vakacegu, (utility back) is a Fijian international has scored 9 tries
Nick Griffths (scrum half) a former Bees player and Iva Motusaga (flanker) have 7 tries each
Aisea Havili, (wing) from Tonga, who previously played for Worchester has 6 tries
Jimmy Moore (utility back) who has 6 tries, 9 conversions and 4 penalties
Darren Dawiduik (hooker) has 3 tries
Rhodri McAtee, (wing/scrum half) who has played for the Barbarians has 3 tries
Bertrand Bedes (no 8) has 2 tries
Ryhs Jones (fly half) who has previously played for Sale and Cardiff Blues, has 18 conversions, 2 drop goals and 24 penalties
Douglas Sanft (fly half), from CRC Madrid has 7 conversions and 5 penalties

The Pirates will be fighting all the way, Albion supporters will be shouting from the terraces and hoping to capture the prize , for Pirates the win over their Devon rivals, for Albion a ‘safe place’ in the league

This is Cornwall perview

CD’s prediction – this is going to be a hard game – Albion need as many points as they can – so same Result as Esher – Albion only 3 point behind – but getting 2 Bonus points – HOPE YOU PROVE ME WRONG ALBION !!

Adrian has had his whistle at 16 match in NL1 this season and it will be the 4th time Albion have been under his control and Pirates 3rd. His penalty count is lower than the average with his cards coming out the average number of time but he has given 5 penalty tries, twice the average.

One PT against us for London Welsh in September and one for Pirates against Tigers in November. So is it our turn???

Re: Spy in the Camp - Pirates
Doug Sanft was released by Pirates mid season, and signed for Mounts Bay. Albion then signed him as cover at fly half following Kieron Hallett's injury. He definetly played for the warriors at Lanson, and scored a try.

Registration issues have prevented Sanft from being made available for the first team. He also played against the Royal Navy for Warriors.

Re: Spy in the Camp - Pirates
The question is do we want him to play for us.the pirate supporters didn't rate him at all,and he was publicly criticized by mark hewitt.

Jeez - check out Gully on the link above with full set! Didn't recognise the boy. Certainly got the buccaneering look.
