London to Paris,
by bike

July will see Danny Thomas making the 300 mile, 4day trip between the two capitals for McMillan. there are a number of charities that organise the same journey but this one is the annual journey organised by McMillan with around 80 cyclists taking part. The challenge takes place between the 8-12th July and each day I will cycle between 90-145km.

Danny decided to take part after his Gran passed away a few months ago after suffering from both bone and breast cancer and he wanted to put something back into the organisation that had looked after her.

Preparation for the 300 mile trip been hard with the rugby season but he has managed 40 to 45 miles on a Sunday with bits and pieces during the week. Once the season is over he will be able to take it a bit more seriously.

The 90 mile first day does not phase Danny and expects to be able to easily cope with it with the camaraderie of the other riders. The stage from London is expected to take six to six and a half hours. The race finishes along the Champs-Élysées at Arc de Triomphe.

Danny has been cycling since he was very young but has never done anything like this before. Participants are asked to raise at least £1,300 which currently he has raised around half of that amount with personal donations and money donated on the just giving web-site.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor. Macmillan Cancer Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Also Stuart Friswell has agreed to join the party. Stuart left Albion for Coventry before moving Northampton last summer. His premiership career was finished before it started in a pre season match against Cardiff Blues when he picked up a neck injury. He did try to get to  full fitness but in January announced his retirement.

Stuart was looking for a challenge and after discussions with Danny he agreed to join him in this venture.

Good luck Danny on your ride, I see you're donations are catching at last with you're target.

By the way on you're photo I am a bit worried, with friends like that who the hell needs enemies.

Semper Sersum.
