Hopefully we have had all the bad news, coordinated in one big hit. Perhaps the club will turn on the good news tap for a bit - now is time to start selling your product.

One of the new faces at brickfields this season is David Morton a no. 3, Scotland under 20's according to the Indy and also the local Bridgewater and Albion paper a couple of weeks ago.

I think you can add Mercer and Kessel to the new players to the squad as they played for Albion in the Newquay 7's last weekend and I'm pretty certain they wouldn't have pulled on an Albion shirt if they hadn't been accepted at the club for the squad for the coming sason would you ?

Re: Ins and outs 2009
I see that David Morton is announced on "thisisplymouth" today and will of course be in the Herald, looks like a good aquisition for the Albion.

Also the club say that he is the seventh signing for this term with a Joe Clark also being listed as one of the new lads, I know he was a possible but didn't notice him being officially announced.

It's getting better, only a couple more days in which to get your discounted season ticket folks.

Re: Ins and outs 2009
The second half of last season we seriously struggled & with the players that we have recruited I don't see that changing too much. We have signed a few players who appear to be experienced and of a good quality but I don't believe it is enough. There certainly appears to be no strength in depth and many of our competitors who finished around us last season appear to have strengthened more than us on paper. This league gets tougher and tougher each year but Albion have not responded accordingly over the past 3 years and gone backwards but only time will tell and the next match against redruth will be interesting!

Re: Ins and outs 2009
I have to have to share those sentiments above. I suppose though more does not always mean better - the pirates have brought in 15 or so players plus change in coaching and so very difficult to predict how this will work out - although something was needed to change!

What concerns me slightly with albion this season is that it was overheard that 60% or so of the squad against Redruth were 1st team squad. While I accept that it is pre-season and so never a good point to judge , albion never really threatened a strong redruth side - although will be interesting to see the score this weekend and team put out.

Why do you think albion are struggling to recruit/retain players, while rivals are more active? Is it money or do you think GoD feels he has adequate resources?

Re: Ins and outs 2009
An interesting prognosis that you put forward propirate with regard to the 60% of the squad from last week being of first team standard, I don't know who gave you you're inside information, it wasn't magaluf boy was it ? but perhaps you would like to share it with us instead of hiding behind vauge second hand remarks made by someone who is about as informed as yourself it seems.

From what I have read of your postings it would appear that you haven't a clue as to who is at the club or their ability, although there are no garentees at this stage success, you are, it would appear to me, just trying to provoke discontent among the regular fans, and if you have anything to say or tell then do so instead of posing ambigous questions in order to unsettle others with, in short come out of the closet and stand up to be accountable.

Youre not related to G.J. are you or some discontented fan from other parts ?

Re: Ins and outs 2009
I certainly am not trying to stir, just genuinely interested in peoples opinions on their club. It was by no means a derogatory pop at albion. I am sorry if you feel that way noibla but these are the sort of things that get chatted about over a pint when I go to games. If you really want to know who said the comment re: squad it was one of the albion players - i am sorry I don't know his name, talking with one of the redruth coaching staff.

I love the games with albion and genuinely like to see them doing well (behind the pirates mind (Sm151) ) - don't think that type of hostile response was really necessary as just wanted an insight. I won't bother posting on here anymore as clearly some people are too defensive over this subject.(Sm135)

Re: Ins and outs 2009
propirate, don't we all hear these comments at the club, you ought to stand with me at the games for a continious moan about the team however we are playing, and you can guess how the moaners had a field day last season.

I guess we all have a choice as to what we say on hear propirate, thats what the site is for, but for goodness sake lets call it 60% of the 22 in the squad that 13.2 players you will find, so tell me which 13 players in the squad who played at Redruth were in our first team squad, either from those who played last year or those who have joined in the close season and are earmarked for the first teqm squad, I can think of Kerian, Geoff and Wayne, James Waterhouse and maybe another one perhaps, thats a hole lot short of 13, and as it has been said, two of these were in for the first time after injury.

And my post was in reply to what read, to me, as you're concern as to the inability of Albion to achieve a positive result with some 60% of first team squad in the mix, when in fact it was nothing like and Redruth have a pretty good squad which showed in the teams position in the league last year.

I was @ redruth - wonderful day of rugby - always like going down to 'ruth, although mounts bay was good day out as well
Albion was 60% of 2nd team players only 1 of the players (possibly 2) were from the 1st team

i'm hoping that more of the 1st team get a run-out on sunday
hope your going to come up - if so come to the ryearch and say 'hello' - i should have my hat on

Re: Ins and outs 2009
In todays Herald ianbol I thought you would have read it by now.

Also I don't know if they will be "announced" in the Herald but there are a number of unknown faces at brickfields these days being as only about eight/nine have been written about, and the big boys in the forwards look like watching the old Rotherham/Worcester sides when they came to brickfields years ago. Could be a decent season this time.

Breaking news, although the Spanish centre who was mentioned in the Herald has arrived, a big lad for a center he is too, I see that Argyle aren't the only Plymouth club with connections to Japan as a new incoming player for Albion was announced in the R.T's today, he is Yokogawa Musashino, so keep a look out for him.

And they give us an 11th place finish in the league this season.
