Challenge Cup
You see, Connacht have never gotten all five points away from home in Europe before. Sure, plenty of try-fests at home, but away from home? I was thinking about this for a while yesterday. And it dawned on me. Even against poorer opposition, we under perform away from home.
We may have been the first Irish team to win on French soil, but we didn't get the bonus point. However I think this weekend could change all that with Michael Bradley naming an incredibly strong side to take on a Spainish side looking for their first points of this campaign.
Galway man, Danny Riordan has recovered from his flu and takes his place at outside centre while Ray Ofisa starts at blindside flanker for the first time since November. Player of the season so far, Michael Swift starts in the second row alongside Captain Andrew Farley, and former Australian U21 international, Liam Bibo, has been named amongst the replacements.
Connacht team: G Duffy; D Yapp, D Riordan, M Deane, A Wynne; A Dunne, C O'Loughlin; B Wilkinson, A Flavin, R Morris; M Swift, A Farley (C); M McCarthy, R Ofisa, C Rigney.
Replacements: J Fogarty, R Loughney, D Gannon, J O'Connor, C McPhillips, T Donnelly, L Bibo.
Not considered due to injury: J Hearty (hip), K Matthews (calf), M Mostyn (hamstring), J Muldoon (back).
