Connacht's 2010/2011 Season

With Connacht's first preseason game at home to Harlequins only 2 weeks away, we thought it was time for a quick status check on the fixtures, departures, arrivals, backroom staff and all the rest.

So this season, Connacht have a new head coach in Eric Elwood, plus a number of additions to the backroom staff, which is bringing Connacht more in line with the rest of the provinces in terms of Coaching structure. The branch should be applauded for bringing in these positions. It boggles the mind to imagine how Connacht got by with so few resources for so long. Hopefully the extra numbers will really pay off when the lads take the field.

 
Departures:
Losing George Naoupu to the Kobe Kobelco Steelers could be a massive blow. The man put in some amazing performances, backed by those around him to contribute to one of Connacht's most successful campaigns ever. He'll certainly be missed.

Arrivals:
Youngsters Shane Monahan & Darragh Fanning both joined from Leinster presumingly hoping to emulate the fortunes of Messers Keatley and Carr. Ezra Taylor was signed from the Queensland Reds in order to cover the loss of George Naoupu. He has big boots to fill. And Cillian Willis joins from Ulster following in the footsteps of Kieran Campbell.
