ESL XIII Launch
Saints have overtook the Rhinos, and are on top of the engage Super League for the first time this season. After the Rhinos failed to complete the fight back last night against the Wigan Warriors at the JJB, the Saints from Merseyside knew that if they beat the ‘Quins, at the Stoop, by thirty two points or more, they would be on top of the table tonight. And of course they did - they beat the London side, fifty four points to nil.
So, what does this mean for the Rhinos? Well, it means, of course, we are now second in the engage Super League, on points difference. With yet another difficult away trip to the JJB, the Halliwell Jones and of course Perpignan in just two weeks time, it means that we will have to be on top form, and take something away from all of these games.
Next week, the Saints play the Castleford Tigers at Knowsley Road (GPW Recruitment Stadium), when Leeds take on the Huddersfield Giants at the Headingley Carnegie. It’s expected that St Helens will take the two from their clash next week, but the Rhinos will also be favorites to take points away on Friday. So, there is a chance for Leeds to regain their top of the table position on points difference alone.
Then, when the Leeds Rhinos take the journey over the channel to play the Catalans, Saints will take on the Wigan Warriors at the JJB. If Wigan put up a performance like they did last night, they have every chance of winning that one, but then again, don’t forget how dangerous Super League’s third placed club the Catalan Dragons are at home.
Who’s going to win the league? It’s completely unpredictable.
