THIS WEEK AT HEADINGLEY makes a welcome return to leedsrhinos.biz this week, and as the regular season has been drawn to a close, we take a look at this weeks news, in brief, from the home of the Leeds Rhinos. It’s the only place to catch up all the Rhinos news you need to know.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

BURGESS WINS ANOTHER AWARD!

Leeds young-gun Luke Burgess had already won an award this season (Yorkshire Evening Post’s Shooting Star), but that just wasn’t enough: He went on to win the Albert Goldthorpe Rookie of the Year medal at the George Hotel, the birthplace of rugby league, in Huddersfield this week.

PEACOCK’S THE RHINOS PLAY OF THE YEAR

England rugby league captain Jamie Peacock won the prestigious Leeds Rhinos player of the year award on Monday night at the Queen’s Hotel in Leeds, ahead of two more internationals; England’s Rob Burrow and New Zealand’s Brent Webb (born in Australia). Scott Donald won the Leeds Building Society fan’s try of the year award: he snatched that award with a staggering 77% of the votes, for his unforgettable try against Hull FC at the Headingley Carnegie.

WEBB CLEARED TO PLAY AGAINST SAINTS BY RFL

Brent Webb has been told by the RFL that he will not have to appear in front of the independent RFL disciplinary panel on Tuesday night after his high tackle in the Wakefield clash at Belle Vue last Friday.

SINFIELD INVITES YOU FOR SUPPER

It has been announced that Kevin Sinfield is inviting every Rhinos fan to come round his for supper on Tuesday 23rd September at 7pm. Well, it’s not quite his house, but the Carnegie Cafe’ Bar. It costs just £5 for admission to Sinny’s Testimonial supper; but that does include a pie and peas and a testimonial brochure. The skipper will also be joined by team mates JJB, Rob Burrow, Danny McGuire, Gareth Ellis and Jamie Peacock.

RESERVES END WITH A LOSS

The Leeds Rhinos Reserve Academy were defeated at the Headingley Carnegie,  therefore being knocked out of the play offs, as the Huddersfield Giants pulled off a surprise 26-22 victory. It was a surprise because last season’s grand finalists, the Leeds reserve academy, led the competition for the majority of the season.

..and that's it for the return issue of fans favorite, ‘THIS WEEK AT HEADINGLEY’. The article will be back again next week, reflecting on the Saints play off game at Knowsley Road. That means that this story will appear at a later date of Saturday, so that we can fit that information in.
