THIS IS ENGLAND. WE EXPECT.

UNOFFICIAL ENGLAND RUGBY LEAGUE LAUNCHING SOON ON SPORT NETWORK

St Helens prop James Graham will start for England in their first game in the 2008 Rugby League World Cup, whilst Leeds Rhinos winger, Lee Smith, receives his first call up for the national side. Gareth Hock has also been named in the squad. Lee Smith played for the Rhinos in the 2008 engage Super League Grand Final, but not as winger, but in his preffered position of full back, all because Brent Webb (NZ international) had a serious back injury. If he can perform as well as he did at full back for Leeds, he should prove a great addition to the squad.

Adrian Morley also is included in the squad (replacement), a great risk after he hasn’t played for quite a while after a stomach injury picked up play for Warrington. Tony Smith says he will introduce him later on in the game, more as an impact player.

As expected, Leon Pryce starts ahead of Danny McGuire in the stand off position, although McGuire will be on the bench.

England: Paul Wellens (St Helens); Adrian Gardner (St Helens), Martin Gleeson (Warrington), Keith Senior (Leeds), Lee Smith (Leeds); Leon Pryce (St Helens), Rob Burrow (Leeds); Jamie Peacock (Leeds, capt), James Roby (St Helens), James Graham (St Helens), Gareth Hock (Wigan), G Ellis (Leeds), Kevin Sinfield (Leeds).

Replacements: Danny McGuire (Leeds), Adrian Morley (Warrington), Maurie Fa'asavalu (St Helens), Jon Wilkin (St Helens).
