England skipper and Rhinos star Jamie Peacock has signed an extension to his already long contract with the engage Super League Champions. Jamie will at least stay with Leeds, and at the Headingley Carnegie, until the end of the 2011 season. Peacock joined the club back in 2006 from local rivals Bradford Bulls, in the clubs worst year under Tony Smith.

Peacock joined the club back in 2006 from local rivals Bradford Bulls, in the clubs worst year under Tony Smith. But JP was happy, and last season he won his fifth Grand Final, two with Leeds.
The RFL have also awarded him with a three month, mid season testimonial for his services to rugby league. This will happen throughout the summer months, with events held across Yorkshire. Jamie heard all of this news whilst he is with the squad in Jacksonville, for their pre-season camp over in the USA. Included in that is the pre-season clash with the Salford City Reds at the Hodges Stadium - a repeat location of last years Australia Day challenge.
To top it all off, Faye, Jamie’s wife, is expecting the birth of their baby son at the end of the month.
Commenting on the announcement, Peacock told the official club website (leedsrugby.com):
“I am delighted to have agreed the new deal and I am looking forward to the season ahead immensely. The England players only began pre-season at the start of January so the trip to Florida has given us a chance to get back together with the other guys and turn our thoughts to next season and the challenges ahead.
“I would like to thank the Rugby Football League for granting me a testimonial and it is a huge honour. I am getting together my testimonial committee but with Jamie Jones-Buchanan also enjoying a well earned testimonial this year, I do not want to hold any events that will clash with his plans so that is paramount in any arrangements we make,” added Peacock.
