NOT A GOOD FRIDAY FOR RHINOS

Only try for Leeds

It wasn’t a good Friday for the Leeds Rhinos, as local rivals Bradford Bulls produced a shock, controversial victory at Odsal. Attacking opportunities were scarce, as the defenses were on top, in a game which had poor conditions. Jamie Jones Buchanan scored the opening try, Leeds’ only. Leeds’ lead was short lived, as Worrincy hit back for Bradford.

The champions then had two tries disallowed by video referee Thierry Alibert, both of which would have undoubtedly been given on a night without the SKY cameras.

Then, thirteen minutes from time, Carl Ablett was sin binned. Whilst he was off the field, Leeds concided the match winning try. It was Sheriffe who crossed the whitewash, and secured an important local derby victory for struggling Bradford.

It was an all important win for Bradford who certainly needed the confidence boost. Even that first home win of the season hasn’t put them in a play off position yet though.

Leeds head coach Brian McClennan admitted to the press after the game that he was not happy with a number of decisions made by the video referee, especially both Rob Burrow’s and Danny McGuire’s disallowed tries. He said he has many thoughts about them, but thinks it would be better to keep them to himself.

Final score: Bradford Bulls 10, Leeds Rhinos 6
