Review from Squanto (photo's by moorsman)

Squanto gives a Chiefs supporter's view of the win over the Cornish Pirates. One Eyed Jack's review gives a 'blow by blow' account of the match but Squanto is more about how he saw it. A few months ago I (Moorsman) was struggling to get any type of review, now I get 2 for the same match. I'm not complaining, just keep them coming.

           Match Review

Chiefs triumph over local rivals the Cornish Pirates

In my pre match review I predicated that it would be a close fought contest with a try for each side, how wrong I was. Saturday’s match I think was one of the best adverts that ND1 could ever have a gripping 9 try match with the eventual score of 39: 29 to the Chiefs. After having decided to post the scores on line for all to view I realised that I couldn’t type fast enough on my mobile phone and I hope somebody enjoyed the updates where ever they were.

KO v Pirates

The game just took off from the start with the Pirates getting the first score and then the next. As a chiefs fan I was getting worried as normally games with the Pirates that start like this don’t bode well!  However my worries were soon confirmed when I realised what a useless ref we had with Mr Nitwit (I did get that bit right before the match!) even my cat can count 10 yards and spot an obvious knockon and late tackle but DN couldn’t!  Its just frustrates me that how come 1 man can mess up a complete game of rugby, he was in the way of the players , and gave stupid decisions on both sides thankfully he calmed down and woke up in the second half and neither side could complain as by this time he had become insignificant in the game.  The try’s kept coming and the points racking up for both sides. After half time the 10 mins of intensive play and possession by the Chiefs I think sealed the match, I've never seen them play that good and it reminded me of the great win over Harlequins at the County Ground, despite the mistakes from both sides the scores continued to rise.

There are a number of other reviews on this match so I will leave the sequence of events to the others. All I can say is that we saw some fantastic rugby from both sides and the Chiefs thoroughly deserved the win. As for some individuals to pick out, Richie Baxter will remember this match for a long time 250 appearances is some feat for a player but then to go and score 2 tries is something else. Tony Yapp welcome back, 19 points on your own isn’t bad for a guy that’s sat on the bench for most of the season lets see the selection for next weeks game- TY gets my vote over DG . Tom Johnson was on fire and thoroughly deserved the MOTM award I think we will see more of him to come.

And the rest of the team it was a great effort from all of you,  thank you as well as the Pirates team and supporters for a thoroughly great game and day of rugby.

Thanks for the review Squanto and trying an online update. (Sm128) Not sure I could manage to watch and send info, especially a match like this one. (Sm60)
