A look into my crystal ball

Moorsman
By Moorsman February 24 2008
As with last season Moorsman makes predictions for the top five sides in division 1 until the end of the 2007/08 season. Just a bit of fun and no doubt many will disagree but will they be brave enough (or foolish enough) to make their own predictions.
Prediction Time

crystal ball

I did this last year for the last 2 months and thought it might be interesting to try again this season.  I've taken the top five sides and decided to brave it to see how well my crystal ball works?  Not an easy job, particularly when trying to keep my 'bias' under check.

The top six sides at this stage last year were (final position in brackets) :-
Leeds Tykes (1)
Earth Titans (2)
Doncaster Knights (3)
Cornish Pirates (5)
Plymouth Albion (6)
Exeter Chiefs (4)
So not much change in the last 2 months apart from the Chiefs who only lost 1 game, away at Leeds.  It seems a bit strange not to have Albion in the mix at this stage of the season.

Last year I predicted we would win each game - and the team almost delivered!  I believe we can do this again but it will need some performance to defeat Saints at home.
 Although it looks like Saints have secured a return to the GP, there's still a lot of pride at stake and a chance to start the build up for the 08/09 season.

Key: Teams show points total as at 01/03, Bold = home games and Red = top five side. Predicted points in brackets (x).  Saints have a match to rearrange against CAB's.
B = Bedford, C = Coventry, CAB = Cornish All Blacks,
CP = Cornish Pirates,
DK = Doncaster Knights, E = Esher,
EC = Exeter Chiefs,
LW = London Welsh, M = Moseley,
N = Nottingham,
NB = Newbury Blues, NS = Northampton Saints,
PA = Plymouth Albion,
PB = Pertemps Bees,
RT = Rotherham Titans,
  SP = Sedgeley Park

As you can see Knights, Saints and Pirates have two whilst the Chiefs and Nottingham have three games gainst top five opposition.

No doubt many will disagree with my predictions, perhaps you'd like to post yours (final totals are OK if you don't want to do the full list)?

Re: A look into my crystal ball
One problem - Saints have 9 games left. And we won't lose on the 22nd.

Re: A look into my crystal ball
And the ninth game would be like the round ball 39th step would it? 16 teams in ND1 = 15 home, 15 away = 30 games. Saints have played 22 so far as I can see this leaves 8 to play. We'll just have to see what happens on the 22nd though.
