Moseley v Exeter Chiefs match preview

Big Chief Running Maul
By 3 Wheels on My Waggon
December 30 2008
3 Wheels on My Waggon looks forward to Exeter Chiefs first fixture of 2009. They travel to play Moseley and the Raiding Party will be there in good voice following last weekends victory over the Cornish Pirates. Five points is the order of the day although few expect a repeat of the 70-10 scoreline at Sandy Park.

 Moseley v Exeter Chiefs

at

Billesley Common With the festivities still ringing in our ears, the Chiefs make their way to Billesley Common this Saturday, aiming to continue to keep the pressure on Leeds. The players will have put the disappointment of the lack lustre performance against Esher firmly into the box of forgettable memories, whilst the marginal loss against Leeds will be waiting to be filed as the ‘Game of the Season’, a severe disappointment, but a game that the team and supporters can be truly proud of.  Hopefully last Saturday’s drubbing of the Cornish Pirates in the second half of the game will set the scene for this weeks match. With all that has happened this season, you will be forgiven if you do not recall the events of 20th Sept, the 4th game of the season, the second home match, where Moseley were put to the sword, a sword of the size never seen before at Sandy Park, the Chiefs beating Moseley by 70 points to 10. It was that result which put Exeter into 2nd place where they stand at the moment, with the top position still within sight but now needing to rely on Leeds to make the mistakes.  Moseley currently sit in 11th place with a game in hand, with a points difference of -14, and having earned 10 bonus points, showing that they have the ability to come up with the goods, either when on the winning or losing side. Their worst result at home this season has been the 12-19 loss to Doncaster, having also only lost by 2 points to Nottingham at Billesley Common.  Another drubbing of Moseley does not really look on the cards, but the Chiefs will want to come away with all 5 points, and with the lift from last weekend’s game, should be in a position to achieve their target and maintain the pressure on Leeds.  It may be of interest, that Leeds have earmarked their visit to Billesley Common in April as the day they will gain promotion, hopefully someone will have put a spanner firmly in the works by then. My prediction for this Saturday:Moseley 5 – 38 Chiefs

Re: Moseley v Exeter Chiefs match preview
Hi guys,

I am pleased PD has only made two changes after the esher disaster I did wonder if he might be tempted to do it again. Injuries apart if you have a winning line up then surely you stick with it. It looks a solid line up and should be to powerful in the end for our hosts. After last weeks second half you would have to say we should get a BP. Lets end 2008 and start 09 with some decent mpmentum.
