Match Preview Rotherham v Chiefs

By Getting Happier By The Match
April 8 2009
GHBTM previews the Chiefs away game at Roth and hopes for a return to form and a 5 point victory. The squad has a far from familiar look about it but it's great to see Matt Jess back from injury and ready to fly down the wing.

Match Preview

Rotherham v Exeter Chiefs

Now down to the last three matches this season and Exeter find themselves away to Rotherham, a team with an average level of attendance of about 1300.

The first match I took my son to see was against Rotherham (in the rain) at the old County Ground. We lost convincingly and Rotherham went on to gain promotion at the end of the season to the Premiership. They have won the Division three times but only managed to enter the premiership twice due to the state of their ground.

Famous Rotherham citizens include Captain Slow (aka James May – spent much of his teens in the town), David Seaman (born in Roth) and my idols (and role models) the Chuckle Brothers.

Their ground, Clifton Lane is a long haul from Exeter, at about 250 miles, most of which can be driven on motorways. After last week’s debacle, I expect a fairly small travelling contingent this time around.

Rotherham are sitting in 10th place and, in the same way Coventry last week were, are fighting for their survival in ND1.

My predicted result? Exeter to get all five points and score just a little higher than last week – Rotherham to get just the one try (in the last 10 minutes). Come on Exeter – you know it makes sense!
