The stadium was officially opened by Jason Leonard prior to the England Saxons v Italy match staged at Sandy Park.  This was part of the Churchill cup and the Chiefs also hosted the NZ Maori v Ireland game.

Here's a poser for you. Who is the player standing between Gary Kingdom and Tony Roques in the 06/07 squad photo?

unless i cant count, there are less people in the piccy than on the players list so if we have an impostor that means there are even more people without a face. who are the people not in the photo?

most photos pre-season have faces missing because of injury, other commitments etc. e.g. Andy Miller and Chad are missing from the 08/09 lineup.

As I remember that chap was a kenyan International winger called Ian Simiyu. I think his chiefs career consisted of one pre season game against Exmouth (scoring a hat trick) but I don't know what happened to him after that.

From last year's Sevens website:Kenyan sevens
His given name was Innocent but you can understand why he'd probably prefer to be known as Ian.

sorry link doesn't want to work. google him as "Innocent Simiyu"
