The most experienced driver in Formula One history, Honda Racing F1's Rubens Barrichello recorded another remarkable victory in the Granja Viana 500 karting race. The annual event attracts many of the greatest drivers in the world, with 70 teams entered in to the near 11 hour event.

Barrichello, joined by IndyCar champion Tony Kanaan, IndyCar race winner Felipe Giaffone, F1 exile Luciano Burti and karting pal Renato Russo, started on pole position and led virtually the entire race.

The team's took 10h53:03.706 to complete the 500 miles, or 644 laps of the Granja Viana circuit in Brazil, finishing the race three laps ahead of the second place Henkel-Loctite team. In third was the Mass Blausiegel Team led by Ferrari's Felipe Massa. Rubens also managed to set the fastest race lap along the way, completing the circuit in 57.231s on lap 61 of the event.

"I entered this race to train, because I will not stop," explained Rubens. "I want to continue in Formula 1 and, if that's not possible it's not through lack of will.

"The teamwork was excellent, a very tough race physically," he continued. "It was not easy to drive for more than three hours at the beginning of the race, with all that sun and heat. It was an ordeal and different from all previous ones, because the start was during the day and left front tire was burning too much, but our strategy worked well."
