Player quotes suggest all is not well at Glaws

AA - Tigers-bound

Comments made by two departing Gloucester players will provide ammunition for those supporters who are keen to see coach Dean Ryan join them through the Kingsholm exit. At the end of a painful season, Anthony Allen is heading for Leicester Tigers and Olly Barkley is going back to Bath, and neither of them appear to be too upset about leaving Gloucester behind.

Allen says that although he was offered a deal to renew his contract at Kingsholm, he felt it was time to move on, though he realises that moving to Leicester gives him not guarantees of regular senior rugby.
Barkley frontAnd Barkley (right) has admitted that he and coach Ryan disagreed about the way Gloucester played last season, though to be fair to OB he has made it clear that the blame for his own poor season is entirely his and nobody else's.
In an interview with the Independent he says: "Yes, there were aspects of style and strategy that Dean and I didn't agree on. I went there to play the second receiver's role, only to find we were embracing a brand of rugby that didn't offer me the scope to do the things I felt I did best."
So did he not ask DR how he would be used before agreeing to switch to Glaws a year ago, or did Ryan either not know, change his mind or not bother telling Barkley how he wanted him to play?
In this day and age, you would think that a player and a coach would get together before agreeing a deal to talk about such things.
Wouldn't you?
Barkley says that given his time again, he would never have left Bath ... whether Allen thinks that in a year's time remains to be seen.
Moving to the Tigers means he has to compete with Aaron Mauger for the inside-centre role but he told the Citizen: "I've had a really enjoyable time at Gloucester, but I felt it was time to move on.
"
My contract was up and they wanted me to stay, but I felt it was the right time to move and that Leicester was the right club.
"I spoke to a few players who have been at both clubs and they said it's a great set-up and I'll enjoy it.
"I think everything there will improve me as a player. They don't do half measures and they look after players really well.
"When the time comes, it'll be nerve-racking because I'll have to prove myself again, which is what I need, I think. It will help kick-start my career."
Perhaps his most telling comment is "They don't do half measures and they look after players really well."
Are we to think that he believes that isn't the case at Glaws?
Meanwhile, still no word on DR's future at Glaws - if he has one - or on any further new signings to compensate for the glut of players leaving.

I was told Tony Allen initially wanted to stay at Glaws but DR made no attempt to discuss a new contract with him so Allen left for Tigers. It is painfully obvious Glaws are in turmoil on and off the pitch but if the rumours of DR being fired out the door this week are correct then maybe the situation will be resolved.

But will it be too late for Glaws to sign players who can improve the team? To many leaving and not enough joining, and it begs the question - do players not WANT to sign for us? And if so, why?

Apparently TW wants 600k chopped off the wages for next season which partly explains why some high earners are going out the door. Add in that some players blatantly dont want to play DR's way and you get turmoil.
