Kingsholm silence is far from golden
By Cherry Picker
June 2 2009
The silence at Kingsholm has been deafening as Gloucester have gone coy about the position of coach Dean Ryan and the result of owner Tom Walkinshaw’s end-of-season review. On May 21, it was revealed that the announcement over Ryan’s future had been delayed and it would now be made a fortnight later.
Those two weeks are up, if we are looking at an exact count, on Thursday of this week.
So can we expect an announcement then?
It’s certainly to be hoped so, because this particular silence is far from golden.
As things stand Gloucester are in very serious danger of falling so far behind other Guinness Premiership clubs in their team building for next season that it will be impossible to close the gap.
Many fans believe that the situation on the playing front as it stands now is fairly hopeless because there are no obvious replacements for most of the quality players who have left the club.
If the situation is allowed to remain as it is for much longer, it can only get worse.
It’s not as if Ryan, or whoever else is going to be in charge next season, is starting from a position of strength.
Glaws looked a disjointed, dispirited team in the closing games of last season and finishing sixth, well astray from a play-off place, hardly suggests they are going to be capable of doing better in 2009-10.
It is strongly suggested that season ticket sales are not going well, and of course the club extended the deadline date for renewals after it was revealed  that TW was delaying his announcement. Clearly it was hoped that when the announcement is made, fans will be more inclined to put their hands in their pockets than they are at present.
Whatever does happen, hopefully it will happen soon, otherwise next season looks doomed before it even starts.

It has been a total shambles, luckily Bath are in a worse state. The silence on both DR and the Season Ticket situation suggests that that when Glaws find themselves with their collective backs to the wall it is to be hoped that the old Glaws spirit reappears. I think it will be safe to say next season will answer a lot of questions about the commitment of certain players.

Don't know about anybody else, but the wait is killing me. It's like pacing up and down in the corridor outside the delivery suite.

I am very disappointed there has been no news yet. It is obvious DR is not voluntarily going so either TW pays him off or he is staying, either way Glaws should get on with it and let it all settle.

Another day, and another week, almost gone and still no word from the club. What the **** is going on?

It has got so bad even the rumours about what is happening have died a death! As a fairly pointless, stalker-esque aside, Dean Ryan didnt look like a man with many worries about his job/future when he was out with his lad the other day.
