Falcons are next up at Kingsholm and they will provide the perfect opponents for the newly pragmatic Cherry and Whites to build on that win at Sale ...
For the first time this season the Glaws boys closed out a game in the final quarter.
John Afoa and Charlie Sharples had crossed the line to establish a decent, but by no means unassailable, 17-8 half time lead.
As the game reached its final stages, it was the visiting pack which foprced the penalties with Greg Laidlaw's unerring boot ensured that a strong Sharks side were not allowed back into the game after closing the score to 17-13.
Sale don't often lose at home - at least to other teams- but Glaws were full value and all of a sudden sit in fifth place in the Premiership.
Newcastle will be happy with their fourth from bottom berth, but gave due warning that they are no mugs when they pushed Tigers all the way at Kingston Park yesterday.
The 14-13 win for the Tigers could easily have been the other way.
