Ed Slater

By New Cherry
September 15 2017

Pletnty of reunions going on at Welford Road but who will come away with a smile on their faces? Certainly Gloucester will have to shape up better than they did at Quins - that's perhaps why there are six changes.

Ed Slater comes in against his old club for his first start in the cherry and white and he is one of four changes in the pack.  Motu Matu'u and John Afoa come into the front row with Slater and  Jeremy Thrush in the second row and Jacob Rowan returning at openside.

The Shed faithful will be delighted to see Billy Twelvetrees restored to the midfield - as one of our least predicatable and naturally talented players he always makes a difference whenever he comes on - witnessed by the last ditch winning try in the first game acgainst Chiefs.

Gloucs: 15. Jason Woodward; 14. Charlie Sharples, 13. Matt Scott, 12. Billy Twelvetrees, 11. Ollie Thorley; 10. Billy Burns, 9. Willi Heinz (captain); 1. Josh Hohneck, 2. Motu Matu'u, 3. John Afoa; 4. Ed Slater, 5. Jeremy Thrush; 6. Lewis Ludlow, 7. Jacob Rowan, 8. Ruan Ackermann.
Reps: Richard Hibbard, Val Rapava Ruskin, Gareth Denman,  Tom Savage,  Freddie Clarke,  Ben Vellacott,  Henry Trinder,  Henry Purdy.

Tigers have lost bot their games ti Bath and Saints and will be desperate to ngetbtheir season on track. So they also make a number of changes as they look for the right formula with a new second row in the shape of Harry Wells and Joe Maksymiw. The latter making his debut.

There's one or two familian names in this line-up:

Tigers: 15 Telusa Veainu, 14 Nick Malouf, 13 Matt Smith, 12 Matt Toomua, 11 Jonny May, 10 George Ford , 9 Ben Youngs, 1 Ellis Genge , 2 Tom Youngs (capt), 3 Dan Cole, 4 Harry Wells, 5 Joe Maksymiw, 6 Mike Williams, 7 Luke Hamilton, 8. Sione Kalamafoni

Reps: Harry Thacker, Greg Bateman, Logovi’i Mulipola  , Valentino Mapapalangi,  Dominic Ryan, Sam Harrison,  Joe Ford,  Matthew Tait.
