England v Wales Good/Bad & Ugly

Final Try
By Newshound
August 5 2007
Rugby World Cup warm up match, England v Wales 4/8/07. A stroll in the park for England and a drubbing of mega proportions for Wales. This was supposed to be a TEST not sure why they bothered really. Oh well the fans had a good day out and Wales rolled over them.

England v Wales Warm up Match 4/8/07

The aftermath...........  England 62 - Wales 5 (Ouch) !!

A shellshocked Wales await yet another England conversion during the Investec Challenge match at Twi

England enjoyed their drubbing of Wales yesterday.  What did Ashton, the team  and the rest of the rugby world learn yesterday? Answer: that Wales don't have a decent second string and how to beat them easily, can't see them getting anywhere in this year's Rugby World Cup.

England players enjoyed their run out in the sun, few wobbles at the beginning but really nothing to write home about as to a TEST of any sort.  They say you play what is in front of you, well that was not a lot.  The England pack shoved Wales off the park, the backs basked in the sunshine JW had a training kick around all in all a good day out for the England team and the fans.

Nick Easter had a grand game with his hat-trick - becoming the first England number 8 to score four tries in a match.  Lawrence Dallaglio looking on and wishing but he did get on and score himself - Nero is back!

Englands Shaun Perry breaks through the tackle of Waless Ryan Wyn Jones to set up his teams first tr

England head coach Brian Ashton will announce his 30-man World Cup squad in a few days' time, and Easter apart, there were some good contributions from centres Dan Hipkiss and Andy Farrell, together with Perry and lock Simon Shaw -------- does anyone think that Simon Shaw looks like Leonard Nimoy (Spock) of Starship Enterprise? (Beam me to France Ashy)

Wales:

What can one say, Must TRY Harder!  What a shambles sorry guys but it really was.  This was Wales Seconds against England’s strongest side, maybe five players from the starting line-up yesterday will start in the opener against Canada in Nantes but even so I would have expected more from the men on that pitch yesterday.

Apart from two iffy tackles by Charvis and Horsman, the first half was all England and Wales went in  22-0 at half-time.  Pride might have brought them together for the second half but it got worse and for Welshmen painful to watch as try after try followed.

Wales have a good deal to work on and once their first squad team get back together it will surely be a different story but their morale, that will take a bit of time to repair.

Well it wouldn't make much difference. I blame wales for this farce. If they hadn wante dto take a loook at some fringe pkaters they should have requested a behind closed doors training match.
All this has achieved is to make 8 players laughing stocks and probably ruin their international careers for all time.
