Romania centre in his fourth RWC

Centre Romeo Gontineac will become the first Romanian to feature in four Rugby World Cups after being named in his country’s 30-man squad for France 2007. With 71 caps to his name, Gontineac’s experience will be invaluable in Pool C, where Romania come up against favourites New Zealand as well as Scotland, Italy and Portugal.

He was captain of the side in Australia four years ago, when 14 of his 2007 colleagues also featured.With only one win in four previous World Cups behind them,
Romania will consider their game against Portugal in Toulouse on September 25 as the best chance of doubling that record. But most of their players enjoy their club rugby in France, and with “home” advntage they won’t roll over for Italy or Scotland either.
