Nearly half a million foreign visitors are expected in France for the event, making it an ideal platform, beyond the sporting event itself, for strengthening exchanges between participating countries and France.    Starting on 7 September, with Argentina facing the host nation, the tournament will last for six weeks, with the final being staged at the Stade de France on 20 October.

More than 90 nations have participated in events over the last three years to qualify for the tournament. Only 20 nations made it to the finals and it will take 48 matches, spread over 44 days to identify which country is the best of the best.

Many of the cities will be hosting special events and exhibitions to accompany the action taking place on the field. Destinations such as Lens and Paris will be setting up large screens around the cities so that visitors can watch the game, while Bordeaux is to set up a rugby village, comprising of big screens, eateries and accommodation
