Rugby World Cup England vs USA Match Review 8th September, 2007. The defending champions England opened up in Lens against the USA semi professionals and only just managed to win this game. Have to say can't see England beating the Springboks on Friday next.

IRB Rugby World Cup - 8th September 2007

 England vs. USA (Pool A)

Match Review

Well if you are American you will be very happy bunnies tonight but if you are English you will be wringing your head in despair.

What a bloody awful performance from England (the so called defending RugbyEngland team in all the time I have supported the national side. World Cup Champions) - HasBeens more like!  I have never watched a more depressing game from an England team in all the time I have supported the national side.

Boring, Slow, Clueless, No Shape, Pedestrian, Ball Handling skills non existent.  Absolute rubbish and embarrassing to watch.

England were ordinary and frankly we have now found their level of play.   This is not to take anything away from the USA who played the full 80mins and kept at England.  They deserved their points and well done to them.  The only one blight was the spear tackle on Barkley and to be honest I really don't think that was intentional, it was not that type of game.

USAs Mike Hercus is tackled by Englands Joe Worsley and Lawrence Dallaglio

With respect to Barkley I thought he was outstanding, his breaks, his try and his kicking ( who needs Wilkinson was my thoughts during the match).  Of course we do need Wilkinson but Barkley is now on a par and surely must take England forward now in the future.  Barkley for me was my man of the match.

The match itself points wise, was made up mostly of penalties and a couple of tries from England but honest to God that was an awful performance by England, they looked tired, did not seem to have a game plan and the passing was woeful.

I can imagine what the rest of the rugby world must be thinking about England now, especially the Springboks who must be delirious with laughter.

What a Joke - England Are

and they will be right, let me laugh along with you guys and girls, before I weep into my Gin and Tonic.

I have seen better matches in the Northumberland Counties 3rd Division.

Dear God where do we go from here...... we are already in the shit!

Final Score England 28 - 10 USA

Why oh why cant the English see past rwc2003, a lot of the team are "has beens", every other nation can see it but the English just wont move on. I doubt if they will even qualify.

Has beens? I though dalgio getting pushed all over the park by younger players was just a plan to lure SA into a false sense of confidence?

Nogrinning smiley
