Wales - Champions
A host of Saders were in action as Wales lifted the European Cup trophy with an excellent 28-16 win over a battling Scotland side.
Harris' fresh and promising side lifted the trophy for the first time since 1995 with another strong second-half display.
Wales tried at the break by two points thanks to an impressive hat-trick from Scotland's Mick Nanyn, but Wales showed more fitness and guile after the interval to crown themselves European champions.
Ashley Bateman, Elliot Kear and Ben Flower bagged Wales' first-half tries, whilst efforts from the promising amateur Christian Roets, goal-kicker Lloyd White and Rhys Williams sealed the win after the half-time break.
Despite Sky's generous coverage, the tournament is perhaps not the competitive affair it could be. Three Scottish players were missing due to ‘wedding commitments', whilst the billed ‘European Cup Finals Day' turned into a one-game affair with the Italy v. Serbia and Ireland v. Lebanon matches each moved to Maesteg. However, for Wales, this marks a step in the right direction and Harris' fledging international coaching career is off to a flyer.
It'll be tougher next year - with France and Russia involved, and the winners set to be promoted to the 2011 Four Nations. Hopefully, Harris' Wales can keep improving and will start winning more column inches over the next couple of years.
Well done Wales, the European Cup Winners 2009.
